This year I have set out to grow real home-grown vegetables from a seed. Now, my tomatoes and peppers were small plants just because it is easier to start those with plants. From seed, I planted two types of pole beans, lima beans, cucumbers and zucchini. At least one of every type of plant has sprouted and is really taking off. My tomato and pepper plants are doing great. I was a little nervous about my veggies in the yard next to my deck. Our yard is pure red clay and I know that is not conducive for growing much of anything. Dennis, our handy green thumb yard man from across the street, helped us till the dirt. We added lots of stuff and tilled some more. I guess it worked because they are growing. Yeah!! The only sad thing is that I feel I may have to install surveillance cameras in my backyard because I already have neighbors placing dibbs on the finished product! :) Clarks----don't mess with my veggies!! :)

One of the pole beans. I will have to get something for it to grow up before too long.

My little garden. I had to install this cute little fence because our 85lb yellow four legged friend kept trampling through the dirt. I installed the fence myself and think it turned out pretty good for a temporary fence.

My tomato and pepper plants. I swear they are taller every morning when I come out. I have three pots of tomatoes and two pots of peppers.

Aren't these the cutest little tomatoes? I have never referred to a vegetable as cute, but with all the work I have put into these, I think they are very cute. I already have at least 10-15 baby green tomatoes. Those are what I am looking forward to the most!
